Rural
agricultural communities are exposed to a variety of pesticides due to
their proximity to crops that are sprayed. Water quality and
children's health can be major concerns for many rural communities.
Our researchers are working with Southeast Missouri communities to
help address their concerns about water quality and overall
environmental quality. Members of our environmental science team
are investigating the occurrence of persistent pesticides in soil and
water samples from these rural communities. Results from this work
will help the affected communities make decisions that will ultimately
improve their quality of life and health.
