Small Livestock Program; Sheep, Goat, and Value-Added Fiber Program

The Small Livestock  program seeks to educate youth and families about raising goats, rabbits and sheep for additional income.  Through workshops and demonstrations, Missouri families learn the most cost-efficient methods of caring for and marketing small livestock in order to increase profits.

The value-added component of the program teaches producers how to increase profitability by processing  wool from sheep, mohair and cashmere from goats and angora from rabbit.

In the past five years, 1200 families in rural Missouri have increased their income as a result of this program.  They have learned how to effectively package and process animal fibers gleaned from sheep, goats and rabbits that they raise.

We are currently conducting the Sheep and Goat Herbal Deworming Research Project   more>>
